Skills and Abilities

  • Collateral Damage – Her zeal can sometimes lead to her being more than moderately destructive and lowers her ability to focus on details. This combination of traits make her a far less than ideal candidate for delicate tasks, but if pushed, Agave can harness vast amounts unintended damage against foes.
  • Occasional Disconnect – While always well intentioned, Agave is occasionally distracted.  This ability gives her a resilience when faced with soul crushing adversity but it can make her a bit random in clutch situations.  On more than one occasion this ability has allowed her to contribute non-sequitur solutions to seemingly impossible puzzles.
  • Spotless Mind – While very capable, it is clear that although her personality seems to be intact, vast sections of her past memory are simply missing. Her  occasional disconnect and eternally sunny disposition keep this from becoming a persistent worry for Agave, however it is clear that she is aware of a kind of cosmic repetition that seems to drive her existence.
  • Charmed – Agave pays a great deal of attention to matters of fate and fortune.  While she is consciously unaware of it, Agave serves a nexus of luck with the ability to skew observed outcomes a few points from the expected norm.

Super Powers:

  • Animate Stone – She can fairly effortless animate monolith dice in the range of 24 to 28 tons using her Charm Cast spell. She can seemingly levitate smaller monolith dice.  Her over use of this power can lead to exhaustion which can cause her abilities to become unstable.
  • Levitate Stone – By defocusing her Charm Cast spell, she can seemingly levitate smaller monolith dice and carved stone artifacts.  When used against some types  of stone and rough hewn stone she can also levitate.
  • Portal Generation – Agave can generate portals that allow her to move between places. This power requires massive amounts of power and most often results in opening a portal to an unanticipated destination.  The resulting portals are not stable and dissipate shortly after forming.
  • Psychometry – Agave can glean impressions and insight from the carver of some stone artifacts. On occasion she can also experience the emotions of the carver.

Agave Mini


Born with the heart of a true crusader, Agave is compelled to right wrongs that she sees. She can be very outgoing and passionate in the pursuit of her causes. It is suspected that this inner spirit and zeal is in someway responsible for her ability to temporarily imbue certain kinds of carved stone with a kind of animating force using her signature Charm Cast spell.  Agave learned of her powers from after s chance encounter with an Alux.

Agave is prone to spells of dizziness and even fainting (something she and other characters have occasionally made light of). It was revealed that the reason for this is a reaction to Serpentines (“False Jade”). It is unclear why Serpentinite has the effect or the extent of how much damage the mineral can do but it is suspected that metals such as cobalt and nickel when mixed in the stone have some effect on Agave or how her powers work.

  • Gunsmith – Warjak has a exception mechanical aptitude, with skill in the field of projectile weapons.  He can modify and repair a wide range of firearms. He has extensive experience in metalworking, additive manufacturing and ballistics.  Pushing himself to master stockmaking he developed a passion for woodworking. Using computer assisted additive manufacturing Warjak quickly improved on his training and showed aptitude in adapting modelling, printing and finishing methods for a variety of purposes.
  • Marksman – Warjak is not only a highly skilled gunsmith,  he also a highly profession marksman.  As a marksman, Warjak expert pistol and rifle proficiency.

Super Powers:

  • Enhanced Durability – Warjak’s genetic modification along with minor bionic assistance give him above average durability and healing capabilities. These modifications are required for entering hyper-fighting mode.
  • Battle Sense – Warjak can harness augmented reality perception of the battle space when switched into hyper-fighting mode.  This mode is build into the Third Drive interface which also drives enhanced adrenaline response.
  • Fear Suppression – Using his implant, Warjak can fully suppress all fear.  This power has a drawback that was initially considered a don’t care condition among many of the initial implant recipients; fear suppression can lead to substantially reduced self-preservation.
  • Shadow Memory – His implant has the ability to turn a memory image into a skill for a mission. The sensation of receiving the new skill is like being in a lucid dream. The data from the dream lasts for 24 to 36 hours or until a REM sleep cycle.
  • Remote Mind Management – Like other “Jaks,” Warjak has the ability to  induce a trance like state in unprotected minds in close proximity. Generally the ability requires line of sight access to implant thoughts, memories or dreams in the minds of others and requires concentration. In many missions was designed to move among adversaries without the need of a disguise.  With the addition of special piece of external gear called War Lens, the range of these powers can be extended over larger ranges and a variety of weather and battle conditions.  The War Lens boosts concentration, and the ability to dream while awake.
  • Digital Interface –  Warjak can interface with networks and devices on the Internet of Things (IoT).  Vulnerable devices can even be controlled.  This ability is used in SIGINT (signals intent) missions.  Warjak is capable of a variety of ESM (electronic support missions) such as ECM (electronic counter measures) and ECCM (electronic counter-counter measures).  The digital interface is used to bland cameras and circumnavigate facial recognition, voice recognition and other and biometrics monitors. A special piece of external gear called the Jade Helm has additional power to extended the range of this capability.   Jade Helm enhances the War Lens and Third Drive implant interface.

This power allows him the ability to infiltrate almost any organization.  At the beginning of the series, almost everything about who he is and who he worked for had been carefully concealed with the aid of operatives at the highest levels of power.  Warjak currently operates as a mercenary and vigilante in Chicago, becoming something of an urban legend.

  • Energy Conduit – Dau can act as a conduit and capacitor of various energies.  Her circlet headband aids in focusing and controlling the energy, helping her tap into vast cosmic energies.  When in full control of her power, Dau’s eyes take on a human appearance.  Her powers require extreme concentration to unlock and peak at emotional extremes.  These emotional extremes can take their toll and lead to exhaustion.
  • Skilled Combat (Close Quarters Combat) – Dau is highly proficient at close quarters and hand-to-hand combat.  She can make up for the shorter reach of her 5’6″ frame with incredible bursts of speed.  While highly skilled, she is not indestructible.  Dau relies on custom armor on her right side to provide additional protection and strength.

BiographyDau Takes Command
Stunningly beautiful with an almost regal bearing and a rich melodic voice, Dau appears as a woman in her early thirties. It is alluded to that she has walked the earth for far longer that it may first appear.  Her attire includes an electrum circlet headband and custom armor that are both of a unique and ancient design. The eye of the circlet is said to allow her to draw and focus energy from the cosmos. 

Dau first appeared as a supervillainess in both “Loaded! Tales of Endless Night!” and “Loaded! One Hundred Truths!”  She is determined and ruthless in pursuit of her mission.  This mission has not yet been revealed.

Super Powers:

  • Superior Sight – In addition to her heightened sense of touch and hearing, Shakhura has superhuman visual acuity. While she cannot see through objects (X-ray vision), she can use her enhanced sight to make out extremely fine detail over very large distances.  With focus, she can read a 4-point type face (1/18-th of an inch) at a range of 20 cubits (30 feet) on an object with a relative speed of 33 cubits per second (49.5 feet per second / 33.75  miles per hour).
  • Flight – Shakhura can focus her energies to strengthen her wings to levitate or to fly.  Devotees of Shakhura insist that her wings can even offer protection in battle as she observes combatants.
  • Corporal Form– Shakhura can use her focus to take a corporal form.  Her default human form is a likeness of her original form with ancient Egyptian wings, but with focus she can make her wings non-corporal allowing her to walk unnoticed among combatants.
  • Teleportation – Shakhura has the ability to dissolve her corporal form and teleport to a destination of her choice.  Depending on the speed of travel and the distance involved, this ability can be draining.


  • Twin Sceptre / Axis of Battle – From Djehuti (Thoth) Shakhura can reveal the second aspect of her Twin Sceptre, summoning a staff called the Axis of Battle.  The Axis of Battle can dispel the Fog of War allowing the wielder to see into the heart of a commander or combatant and even know their next move.
  • The Reeds of Fate – Said to be given to  her  by Djehuti, the five divine writing reeds used by Shakhura are thought to be imbued with power to direct themselves without interference from the editing of the conscious mind.  Ordinary mortals that have claimed to come in contact with the reeds and survived, claimed the reeds compelled them to empty the contents of their minds in arcane symbols until the reeds were forcibly removed from the writers hand.


Shakhura The Hand of BattleAccording to legend Shakhura was not into born a divine or immortal bloodline.  She was a beautiful mortal woman from Nubia whose truest love was strategy and tactics. Her greatest passion was to observe and chronicle the contest known at that time as “the Fates.”  At this time Djehuti (Thoth) was obsessed with “the Fates” and desperately yearned to master its tiniest secrets. He was so obsessed with becoming a master of the contest that from time to time he neglected his other duties.

While on dispatch to ancient Nubia, Djehuti came upon a traveler that had been mortally wounded by a lioness. Even after being struck down she fought to hold onto a satchel of writings lamenting only that her work would be lost. Stopping to offer aid the disguised elder-god asked why she was so far from home.  He was intrigued by the reason for a her travels and compelled to stay with her as she transitioned to the world below because he had been so obsessed with “The Fates” he had not apprehended the lioness that mauled the traveler.

Djehuti asked her a single question before the weighing of her heart in the world below. The exact words of this question have been lost to the desert sands. On her answer, he requested fresh dress and a set of divine writing reeds for his new emissary.



Like her counterpart from the world of Chess, the dryad Caissa, Shakhura has been immortalized in images and even poetry. Adepts in ShatterCaster use her name as a reference for the contest of strategy and sorcery. Many see her as an anthropomorphism of the contest and their champion in the rivalry with Chess (Caissa).

Extreme Intellect – Mr. Turin’s intellect is fueled by a nearly indomitable will. His superior mental focus gives him the ability to study and master materials. He has an innate respect for knowledge and historic relics and was drawn to the study of the paranormal even before he learned of his family’s work on the almanac. His service has sharpened his skills in concentration, deception detection, persuasion and reason. To many his intensity and rigid formality can come off as cold, unforgiving, and often inhumane or sometimes even inhuman.


Skilled Combat (Master Swordsman) – Mr. Turin is a highly skilled swordsman, holding the proficiency of Akofo Ankobia among others. He wields an etheric blade that has the earthly form of a kaskara of Sudanese inspired design. Turin’s Sword is a tuned mystical artifact that can operate as a construct of sheer will.

  • Gifted Mystic – Turin is a gifted mystic with advanced magic using skills, but honing his skills came with a lifetime of practice and discipline. While he is quite powerful, it takes effort for him to use his powers. From his family lineage he is attuned to his preferred weapon; a custom forged etheric blade with a storied past in the pages of the fearsome almanac.
  • Eyeless Sight – An extension of Turin’s intellect is the harnessing of his abilities of perception into supernatural eyeless sight that reaches beyond the material world. This power allows him to use extreme focus to build a representation of the material or ether sphere surrounding him. Eyeless sight is a requirement to draw the etheric blade when it is concealed outside the material realm.
  • Psychic Radio (Faint) – Like most agents of the order, Mr. Turin has been imbued with “psychic radio” allowing the extremely limited reception and transmission of thoughts and sounds (clairaudience) between members of the team in battle. The ability can be used with high levels of effort. Users that are not gifted with psychic radio ability from birth are usually marginal practitioners because of the danger of removing the barriers in the mind enabling the full power of this ability. Mr. Turin is no exception, however his intellect allows him to better manage higher level bursts of the ability than others.

Mr. Turin was born to a renown family with generations of work on the tome known as the Shadowlanders Almanac. While extremely proud of his family name, Turin rarely speaks of his family heritage to avoid any assumption that he has relied on his family name to attain his status. For a time, his family’s work was kept a secret from him in hopes that he would have the ability to chose a different path. and not face the challenge of living up to the family name. He was drawn to the work. Reluctantly he was allowed to pursue joining the order. Living up to his legacy has at times been a challenge, but Turin pushed himself relentlessly.
